Hello Sanderlin Turtles!

Let’s embark on an exciting adventure!  You are about to experience a wonderful feeling as you learn to communicate with others in another language.  Yes, language is communication!  In my class, you will begin to communicate in Spanish from the first day of class.  You will learn in a meaningful, communicative context, expressions, structures and gestures and to interact with others in real-life situations as you learn more about the world where Spanish is spoken.

How much do you know about the Spanish-speaking countries of Spain, Central America, the Caribbean, South America and Africa where Spanish is the official language?  You will learn about these places and the people who live there increasing your awareness of the cultural similarities and differences that exist among them and your own culture.

There will be challenges throughout the year, but one result of your effort and positive attitude will be a deep sense of accomplishment as your knowledge and skills increase each week.  Enjoy your trip!

¡Vamos a embarcarnos en una aventura excitante!  Tú experimentarás un sentimiento maravilloso mientras aprendes a comunicarte con otros en otra lengua.  Sí, el lenguaje es comunicación.  En mi clase, tú comenzarás a comunicarte en español desde el primer día de clase.  Tú aprenderás expresiones, estructuras y gestos y a interactuar con otros en un contexto significativo, es decir, en situaciones de la vida real.

Además, tú aprenderás más sobre el mundo hispano.  ¿Cuánto sabes tú sobre los países de habla hispana de América Central, del Caribe, de América del Sur y del África dónde el español es la lengua oficial?  Tú aprenderás sobre estos lugares y la gente que vive allí.  Tomarás conciencia de las similitudes y diferencias que existen entre ellos y tu propia cultura. 

Tendrás desafíos a lo largo del año, pero con tu esfuerzo y actitud positiva lograrás incrementar tus conocimientos y habilidades cada semana.  ¡Que disfrutes del viaje!
